Amid
Oscar de la Renta's characteristically exceptional bridal offerings—Chantilly lace sheaths, lavishly ruffled ballgowns, ladylike trumpet silhouettes, and romantic veils—were several ultrawhimsical outliers marked by the sort of details and textures that would appeal to an imaginative young girl decorating the bedroom of her dreams: Cotton candy pink and blue hues, shimmering iridescent sequins, downy-soft white fur, and billowing tulle (for the canopy bed?). The presence of such girlish details plus a recurring lily of the valley motif (the delicate flower is a symbol of innocence) gave the entire collection an air of youthful esprit that will delight brides of all ages.
